Perennial herb or small shrub. Stem woody, branched, densely tomentose. Leaves linear or obovate, obtuse, base attenuate, entire, cottony on both surfaces but more dense towards the dorsal side, sessile, 12-16 x 1-2 cm. Capitula homogamous discoid. Involucral bracts pluriseriate, linear-lanceolate, outer ones smaller, inner longer 13-14 mm long, apex caudate, spiny, glabrous or hairy. Florets bisexual, tubular, deeply 5-lobed. Cypselas obovoid, 5-6-ribbed, densely hairy, turbinate, 1-3 mm long. Pappus 2-3-seriate, outer ones bristly, barbellate 5-7 mm long, 33-58 in number; inner ones scaly, lanceolate-subulate with prominent nerves.
