Erect, 50 – 80 cm tall, woody shrublet. Stems many, green, intricately much branched, with thin, striate, pale green, sparsely pubescent to glabrescent branchlets. Leaves sessile, concolorous, green or glaucous or sparsely pubescent and punctate glandular on either side; lower leaves oblanceolate or narrowly elliptic to linear, 1 – 5 (-7) cm long, 2 – 5 (-8) mm wide, entire or few-toothed, acute; uppermost cauline leaves linear, 9 – 12 mm long, 2 – 3 mm wide, acute. Capitula many, terminal on branchlets to form paniculate synflorescence. Involucre ± obconical or narrowly campanulate, narrowed to the base, 8 – 10 mm long, 6 – 10 mm across, pale-green. Phyllaries 5 – 7-seriate, tightly imbricate, white hairy; outermost phyllaries triangular-ovate, 2 – 3 mm long, 1 – 1.5 mm wide, acuminate; median phyllaries narrowly elliptic, 3 – 10 mm long, 1.5 – 2.5 mm wide; innermost phyllaries linear-oblong, 10 – 12 mm long, 1 – 1.5 mm wide, glabrescent. Receptacle with 6 – 8 mm long, silvery, subulate bristles. Corolla pinkish purple with reddish-tinge, 10 – 15 mm long, glandulose, tube 5 – 8 mm long, limb 6 – 8 mm long with 2 – 3 mm long lobes. Cypselas oblong or cylindrical, (3-) 4 – 5 (-6) mm long, brown, glandulose, obtusely ridged, apical crown dentate-lacerate. Pappus white to dirty white, outer bristles up to 4 (-5) mm long, feathery, sometimes absent; inner bristles ca 10 mm long.`
