Perennial herbs. Stem 20–38 cm tall, erect, subglabrous – glabrous, branched from the middle, branches thin, spreading, densely leafy. Leaves green, subglabrous, basal withering at anthesis, lower leaves subrosulate, lanceolate–linear, 3–5 cm long, 7 –9 mm wide, somewhat ciliate–scabrid at the margins, acute–mucronate, upper cauline leaves almost similar to lower ones, 2–3 cm long (including petiole), 2–5 mm wide, midrib distinct, acute; upper most leaves 3–7 mm long, 0.5–1 mm wide, linear, sessile, acute, entire, gradually smaller, spreading. Capitula solitary or 2–5 on each flowering branch, paniculately–somewhat corymbosely arranged, 1.2–2 cm across. Involucre campanulate, 7–9 (–12) mm in diameter, compressed. Phyllaries 2–seriate, linear–lanceolate, acute, scarious at the margins, hirsute–pilose; outer phyllaries 3.5–4 mm long, 1–1.2 mm wide, inner ones 5–6 mm long, ca 1 mm wide, ciliate, bearded at the apex. Ray florets pink – violet, 4–5 mm long, corolla tube 2–2.5 mm long, ligule almost equalling to corolla tube. Female eligulate florets present. Disc florets ca 5 mm long. Cypselas ca 2 mm long, oblong–obovoid, compressed, olive brown, densely sericeous, hairs reaching the apex of cypselas, appearing as outer series of pappus, hilum basal. Pappus ca 5 mm long, straw colored – palely brown.
