Perennial herbs with long creeping stolons. Stolons with minute needle-like prickles, sparsely pubescent sometimes with stalked glands. Flowering branches erect, 20-60 cm tall, usually glabrous, sometimes with prickles. Leaves ternate.Leaflets ovate-rhombic 3-7 x 2-6 cm, terminal leaflet slightly larger than lateral leaflets, base cuneate and apex acute, margin doubly serrate to incised-serrate, leaf surface puberulous, more densely along veins. Petiole 3-7 cm long, with sparse slender prickles. Petiolules of terminal leaflets 5-20 mm long, lateral leaflets sub-sessile, rachis sparsely puberulous. Stipules 5-10 x 3-7 mm, free, ovate to linear-lanceolate, entire. Inflorescences axillary and terminal, few flowered and fasciculate.Flowers up to 1 cm in diameter. Rachis and pedicel puberulous and sometimes sparsely prickly. Bracts 5-8 x 1-2 mm, ovate to lanceolate, pubescent, margin entire. Hypanthium cylindrical-campanulate, pubescent. Sepals 5-7 x 1.5-2.5 mm, ovate-lanceolate, pubescent, apex acuminate, usually erect at anthesis. Petals 6-9 x 3-5 mm, white, erect, spathulate to oblong, glabrous, clawed at base. Stamens many, half as long as petals, filaments wider at base. Ovaries glabrescent, stylodia as long as stamens. Carpels 4-6. Drupetum subglobose, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, glabrous. Drupelets few, fleshy, bright red, separating from torus at maturity, torus flat. Pyrenes alveolate,pitted.
