Shrub straggling, 1-3 m tall, rubust. Branches spreading, flexuous, purplish-brown, pubescent with sparse, stout, recurved prickles, dense purplish-brown bristles and often with glandular hairs. Leaves ternate. Blade of leaflets elliptic-obovate to suborbicular, 3-12 x 3-9 cm, terminal leaflet larger than lateral, base rounded, apex mucronulate to retuse or subtruncate, margin serrulate, leaf surface adaxially pubescent along midvein, abaxially densely tomentose, purplish bristly along midrib. Petiole 2-6 cm long, pubescent, with a few prickles. Petiolules of terminal leaflets 2-3(-4) cm long, lateral leaflets sessile. Rachis and petiolules pubescent with minute prickles. Stipules linear, 6-11 mm long, pubescent and glandular, caducous. Inflorescence terminal, dense glomerate raceme 2-5 cm long, crowded panicle in leaf axils, or rarely flowers solitary. Flowers 1-1.5 cm in diameter. Pedicel 4-6 mm long. Rachis and pedicels pubescent and bristly. Bracts linear or subulate, 5-9 mm long, pubescent. Hypanthium shallowly cupular, pubescent, yellowish tomentose and sparsely hispid. Sepals 4-6 x 2-4 mm, abaxially densely white tomentose, adaxially pubescent, ovate, apex acute or mucronate, erect at anthesis. Petals white to pink or light purple, obovate to spatulate, clawed at base, 6-8 x 3-5 mm, margin praemorse, densely pubescent. Stamens numerous, shorter than petals, filaments broadened and flattened basally. Carpels pubescent. Styles glabrous, slightly longer than stamens. Drupetum subglobose, ca. 1 cm in diameter. Drupelets many, yellow, glabrous or pubescent at apex. Pyrenes triangular-ovoid, densely rugulose.
