Notes: We believe a handful of specimens from Madagascar can be referred to this sp. It is widespread throughout Africa, and encompasses considerable variation. Gustafsson recognised several vars and forms including one endemic to Madagascar, but current practice is to ignor these variants until a comprehensive study is completed. Gustafsson also referred some material to R. madagascarius fo. umbrosus, but we feel this is better placed here.
