The title page date of the publication of this name and of the synonym R. malagassus Focke is given in 1884. Information on the cover pages of these works gives a publication date for R. myrianthus as 24 March 1883, and for the synonym as January 1884. Plants referred to fo. disclusus seem to differ only in having glabrous abaxial leaf surfaces, whether this merits taxonomic recognition requires further study.
