Annotation: nom. cons. prop. against Malus pumila Miller, M. communis Desf., M. frutescens Medik., and Pyrus dioica Moench but not recommended by the Nomenclature Committee for Vascular Plants, Applequist, Taxon 63(6): 1359 (2014). However, the General Committee referred this proposal back to Vasc. Pl. Committee, who on second vote narrowly recommended this proposal; conserved against 7 names, as some were added by the Committee for Vascular Plants and General Committee upon approval of proposal authors. In the end conserved against Malus pumila, Malus communis, Malus dasyphylla, Malus dioica, Malus frutescens, Malus paradisiaca, Malus praecox, Pyrus dioica, Pyrus praecox.
