Notes
:
This is probably the most commonly cultivated species of Ixora. It has small to medium-sized, sessile, usually elliptic leaves that are rounded to more often cordulate are the base, congested-cymose terminal inflorescences, and red to yellow corollas with tubes 2.5-4.5 cm long. This species is cultivated in particular in areas with somewhat dry climates. Cultivated plants sometimes produce fruit, in contrast to most other cultivated Ixoras. The name Ixora coccinea has been sometimes used for all cultivated plants of this genus, and thereby incorrectly applied to several other Ixora species. Ixora coccinea is similar in particular to Ixora chinensis, with petiolate oblanceolate leaves.
