Notas : This species is rather robust, with well developed peduncles and capsules (for Chimarrhis). Chimarrhis latifolia is similar to Chimarrhis turbinata, with persistent stipules, and to Chimarrhis speciosa and Chimarrhis cymosa.

Distribución : Wet forest at 0-300 m in the Pacific lowlands of southern Costa Rica and southwestern Panama. The distribution mapped by Delprete (1999: 146, fig. 61) does not include the type specimen, from Panama.
