Notes:
This species has a somewhat slender glabrescent habit, elliptic thin-textured petiolate leaves, petiolate cymose inflorescences borne with and below the leaves, white to green rotate corollas 3-7 mm long, and subglobose white, red, or purple fruits. The inflorescences are characteristically pendulous and lax with well developed slender peduncles, axes, and pedicels. The specimens characteristically dry green, rather than brown or gray as in most Hoffmannia. Hoffmannia laxa is generally similar to Hoffmannia viridis and Hoffmannia racemifera.
