Notas
:
This species is characterized by its subsessile elliptic to obovate leaves that are rounded to cordulate at the base, shortly cymose terminal sessile inflorescences, and corollas with rounded lobes that are shorter than the tubes. The leaves are clasping around the stems. Ixora bahiensis is similar to Ixora eriantha, which is poorly known; their distinctions cannot be detailed until material of Ixora eriantha is studied. Ixora verticillata has similar leaves but subsessile subcapitate axillary inflorescences.
