Notes:
This name has been widely used for the pantropical weedy species that has also been Spermacoce alata. When these are separated the species are S. alata and S. latifolia, but there appears no basis for separation in which case the first synonymization of these names chose the name S. alata. The name S. alata has generally been used for these plants when they are studied as agricultural weeds, and the name S. latifolia in floristic studies.
