Notes: This species is characterized by its puberulous to silky-strigose or hirsute pubescence, leaves with lineolate venation; pedunculate, several flowered inflorescences with generally 2-4 markedly monochasial axes; shortly pedicellate flowers with well developed spathaceous calyx limbs; white corollas ca. 15-20 mm long; and slender cylindrical capsules 23-60 x 2-4 mm. Andersson (1997) and Steyermark (1975) differed on the identity of the type of Joosia dichotoma, and Andersson (1996) preserved Steyermark's usage through conservation of the material studied by Steyermark as the type of this name.
Distribution: Wet forest vegetation at 400-950 m on the eastern Andean slopes in central Peru.
