The identity of this name has not been entirely clear, but its protologue described the leaves as alternate so it is not a species of Rubiaceae. No material seems to have been traced, and an anonymous citation noted that this name was later treated in the Select. Stirp. Amer. on p. 68, but it does not seem to be there, not on this page and not either accepted or synonymized under any of the the Pentandria taxa. No geographic origin was noted in the protologue. This may correspond to a species of Cestrum, but that suggestion is just based on the common contemporary confusion between Symphoricarpos and Chiococca.
