Description
|
Prostrate herbs disposed as a mat, or erect to 10 cm tall, the stems smooth, glabrous, to 0.3 mm wide, branching profusely, the nodes usually well spaced. Leaves with a spathulate appearance because of elongate petioles, the blades ovate, rhomboid ovate to oblong, to 3 mm long, to 2 mm wide, acute or obtuse at the apex, cuneate, obtuse or rounded at the base, the lateral veins delicate, 3- 4, often evanescent, membranous, concolorous, drying green, glabrous; petioles shorter than or about as long as the blade; stipules adnate to the petiole base, often with a few dark red glands on the surface or on the margin, often with a narrowly oblong deciduous appendage to 0.5 mm long. Flowers not seen but apparently solitary in the axils. Fruits with pedicels to 3 mm long, the body ca. 3 mm long (including calyx), truncate, smooth, glabrous except on teeth, raphides abundant, the persistent calycine lobes apparently 5, triangular oblong, to 0.6 mm long.
