Palicourea guianensis Aubl., Hist. Pl. Guiane 1: 173, t. 66. 1775.

Arbustos o arbolitos hasta 4 m de alto, glabrescentes. Hojas opuestas, elípticas, 12–30 cm de largo y 6–18 cm de ancho, ápice agudo a acuminado, base obtusa a aguda, membranáceas a papiráceas, nervios secundarios 14–16 pares; pecíolos 1–2 cm de largo; estípulas con vaina 1–2 mm de largo, lobos ligulados a deltoides, 5–10 mm de largo, obtusos a redondeados. Inflorescencias piramidales, 5–12 cm de largo y 3.5–12 cm de ancho, pedúnculo 4–12 cm de largo, pedicelos 2–5 mm de largo, brácteas 0.5–6 mm de largo, flores homostilas; limbo calicino hasta 0.6 mm de largo; corola externamente pubescente con tricomas gruesos, amarilla a anaranjada, tubo 9–25 mm de largo, lobos 1–2 mm de largo. Frutos 5–7 mm de largo y 3–3.5 mm de ancho.

Ocasional en bosques húmedos, zona atlántica; 0–500 m; fl may–jul, fr may–nov, feb; Davidse 30761, Ortiz 198; sur de México y las Antillas a Brasil.
