Leaves sessile, spreading, occasionally deflexed, subulate, narrowly oblong or narrowly ovate oblong, 1.5-2.5 cm long, 0.2-0.4(-0.8) cm wide, subequilateral, tapering acutely at the apex, the terminal seta to 1.5 mm long, white, basally obtuse or truncate, the costa subimmersed above, prominulous beneath, the lateral veins evanescent, stiffly papyraceous, white punctate and hispid above and beneath, the hairs to 2 mm long, erect or curled, the margin frequently revolute, scabridulous, the hairs usually associated with marginal setas; stipules connate, cuplike, the setas prom- inent, stiff, ascending, linear, ca. 10, subequal, to 6(-7) mm long, usually 2-3 times the length of the sheath, the latter with few, elongate, stiff, reflexed, white hairs, these usually associated with the marginal setas, the hairs at the base of the sheath absent, or if present, shorter and weaker. Inflorescences axillary, the flowers few. Flowers with the hypanthium oblong, to 1.8 mm long, truncate, densely hirsute, the calycine cup scarcely measurable, the teeth 4, unequal, sub- ulate, to 2 mm long, acute, petaloid, densely ciliate with 1-2 glandular, subulate structures, ca. 0.1 mm long in the sutures; corolla white or pink, the tube cam- panulate, to 5 mm long, petaloid, glabrous within except for a ring of hairs ca. 1.5 mm from the base of the tube, with scattered uncinate hairs outside, the lobes 4, oblong or deltoid, to 2 mm long, acute; stamens 4, the anthers oblong, to 1.2 mm long, obtuse, dorsifixed or subversatile, the filaments short, attached just below the middle of the throat; stigmas 2, the style filamentous, to 7 mm long, the ovary thick walled. Fruits sessile, indehiscent, of 2 mericarps, turbinate, ca. 3 mm long at maturity, hispid; seeds red brown, reticulate, the calyx deciduous.
