Notes: This species is frequently collected in its relatively small range, on the Pacific slopes of southern Costa Rica and adjacent western Panama. It is generally a robust species with a multiflowered inflorescence. Plants of Colombia have a fewer-flowered inflorescence and salmon-colored corollas, but otherwise the material seen is not distinct from that of Mesoamerica.
Distribution: Humid vegetation at 0-1000 m, well known from southern Costa Rica and western Panama and recently collected in the Cauca valley of western Colombia.
