Notas : This species belongs to Hillia subg. Tetrandrae, and is apaprently pollinated by hawkmoths. It is morphologically somewhat variable, and is similar to Hillia palmana and H. maxonii; these three species are provisionally separated here pending further study.
Distribución : Wet, premontane, and montane forests at 20-2300 m, southern Mexico (Chiapas) to Guatemala and southern Nicaragua to Panama.
