Notas
:
This species is characterized by its obovate subsessile leaves, its trnnagular to ovate stipules with glandular setae on the margins, its pedunculate but rather short, paniculiform inflorescences, and its medium-sized flowers and fruits. It is generally simliar to Rudgea reducticalyx and Rudgea panamensis. In general aspect Rudgea amplexicaulis also resembles some species of Coussarea, in particular Coussarea loftonii and Coussarea impetiolaris; however those Coussarea species have triangular to rounded stipules that lack glandular appendages along with fruits with one seed.
