Notes:
The specimens from MO are on loan and the determinations have not been checked or updated, so the geographic distribution here is provisional. Oldenlandia capensis is rather weedy and widespread in Africa, west-central Asia, and eastern Europe. Two varieties have been separated: var. capensis regularly has 4 calyx lobes, while var. pleiosepala has a variable number of calyx lobes, ranging from 4 to 8 and varying among the flowers on a single plant. Verdcourt (1976) reported both varieties from Madagascar; Groeninckx (2009) reported only the species from Madagascar, but it is not clear there if she did not cite varieties, or did not recognize these particular varieties, which do intergrade with each other. !CMT, V 2011
