This species is poorly documented with authentic specimens, but appears to match many recent collections. It was known to Puff & Buchner (1994) from two specmiens, with the collection locality of the type not known. A number of recent specimens from from several sites on the upper part of the central eastern escaprment of Madagascar appear to match Danais pauciflora, and come from areas that were not previously well explored.
