Notes:
This species is characterized by its medium-sized generally elliptic leaves wtih the venation visible, its deeply bilobed stipules, its pedunculate rather congested cymose inflorescences with the flowers subsessile, and its rather well developed calyx limb with the lobes ligulate and recurved. This species was included by Bremekamp (1963) in his circumscription of Psychotria based on its seeds with a central longitudinal furrow with a median ridge. Bremekamp considered it related to Psychotria magnisepala, which is also found in the same general region and both of which have ligulate recuved calyx lobes; Psychotria enanilihensis has calyx lobes ca. 1.5-2.5 mm long vs. ca. 0.8 mm long in Psychotria magnisepala. Bremekamp described this species based on one specimen that lacks elevation data; one additional collection has been seen that matches the type well.
