Notes:
This species is found in northwestern Madagascar, and is characterized by its extensively reticulated bacterial nodules in the rather robust leaves, and its rather large fruits. It is apparently more variable morphologically than documented by Bremekamp. Some leaves apparently may lack bacterial nodules, and the size of the leaves varies somewhat. This has been confused with Psychotria lohokensis, which has bacterial nodules that are frequently irregular to shortly branched, but the mass of those nodules is generally rather thick, vs. slender to almost filamentous in Psychotria expansissima.
