Notes:
This species has a rather robust habit, elliptic to obovate or ovate leaves, pedunculate cymose to racemiform inflorescences that are generally borne along the bare stems below the leaves, pedicellate flowers, orange to red or yellow corollas with the tube 11-22 mm long and much longer than the lobes, and subglobose fruits. It is possibly hummingbird-pollinated. Hoffmannia cauliflora is similar to Hoffmannia pittieri, Hoffmannia regalis, and Hoffmannia davidsoniae of southern Central America, Hoffmannia killipii of northwestern South America, and Hoffmannia lawrancei of central Colombia.
