Notes: Rusham & Davis (2007) circumscribed Flagenium triflorum to include the plants that were previously identified as Flagenium setosum, prior to 2007, but they also accepted this latter species. They distinguished these species apparently basically by leaf size. They noted that 3 specimens of Flagenium triflorum have very questionable localities, in Antsiranana, in the littoral forest of Petriky, and in the interior highlands; those localities are not included in the distribution summarized here.
