The plants named as Chiococca filiipes seem to be somewhat distinctive morphologically, but Lorence et al. (2012) concluded it is not fully separable morphologically based on herbarium specimens. They provisionally synonymized it with Chiococa alba, but it may deserve further study; for more detailed comments. see the Chiococca alba species page.
