Notes
:
This species is characterized by its stipules with well developed aristae; its petiolate, coriaceous leaves with the venation rather weakly visible; its sessile to shortly pedunculate, several-flowered inflorescences with stout axes; sessile to shortly pedicellate, sweetly scented, showy flowers with an unusually well developed calyx limb and white corollas with the tube 3.5-8.5 cm long; and rather large fruits. The distinctive calyx limb is strigose adaxially (i.e., internally) and has a tubular portion 2-4 mm long and four ovate to oblong lobes 1.5-6 mm long. This species was illustrated and detailed by De Block & Van De Kerckhove (2009) who noted that its pollinators have not been observed but are presumably moths.
