Notas : This species is characterized by its broadly obovate to broadly ovate, petiolate leaves with a truncate to cordate base and pubescent lower surface, rounded to pyramidal multiflowered inflorescences, corollas about 3.5 mm long, and wody fruits ca. 5 cm in diameter. The corollas have lobes that are reduced to short broad undulations on the top of the tube and open aestivation, with the top of the corolla tube plugged in bud with the anthers. This species is similar to Simira rhodoclada. Borhidi (2012) diagnosed this species based in part on its petiole length, which he described as 8--12 mm long; a type specimen (or at least original material) at K has petioles 12--22 mm long, however.
Distribución : Deciduous forest at ca. 1100 m in western Mexico (Michoacán, Guerrero).
