Erect perennial herb. Stem and branches short; quadrangular, angles scabrid, nodes of the stem shortly sheathed. Leaves sessile, 2-6 in a whorl, 1.5-2.5 x 0.5-1 cm, ovate suborbicular, lanceolate or elliptic-ovate, acute, lateral nerves obscure, scabrid on margins and nerves beneath. Inflorescence exillary or terminal cymes, shorter than leaves or solitary axillary. Peduncles ± scabrid. Flowers 5-6 mm in diameter; bracts 2, lanceolate; pedicel c. 5 mm long, 4-angled, pubescent. Calyx globose, pubescent. Corolla 3-5 mm long, tube 1 mm long, lobes 5, ovate, lanceolate, acuminate. Stamens 5, filaments c. 1 mm long; anthers reniform, 2-lobed, dorsifixed, 6-7 mm long. Ovary 2-loculed. Styles 2, united at base, 0.5-0.75 mm long; stigma globose.
