Notas
:
This species is characterized by its leathery verticillate leaves with the venation not or hardly discernible, triangular stipules, shortly cymose axillary inflorescences, short calyx lobes, and dark purple to dark brown or red corollas with relatively long tubes (14-22 mm long). Danais coronata is similar to Danais volubilis, but Danais coronata has shorter calyx lobes. Danais coronata has been documented frequently on sandy substrates, usually littoral forests at 1-60 m elevation, including at Tampolo, but it has also been collected on laterite (e.g., Rakotonasolo 104).
