Branches greyish, young branches sparsely hairy, angular and brownish. Leaves 1-1.5 x 0.4-0.5 cm, ovate or oblong ± coriaceous, lanceolate, acute-acuminate, attenuate at base, green above, paler beneath, midrib prominent on both surfaces; petiole absent to 1 mm long; stipules, sheathing, whitish. 1-2 mm long, with 3 branches. Inflorescence terminal with fascicles of 3-4 flowers on dwarf leafy shoots. Bractcoles broad membranous, united into a sheath, 2-4-lobed; lobes long, sharp, setaceous and ciliate, Calyx-tube c. 1 mm long; lobes 4-5, 1.5-2 mm long, lanceolate, acute, margin generally ciliate. Corolla infundibular, hairy within, c. 1 cm long; lobes 4-5, 1.5-2 mm long, ovate, obtuse, white. Stamens 5, inserted below or middle of the corolla-tube; filaments short, 1.5 mm long; anthers included, c. 2 mm long, linear, acute. Ovary 2-loculed; ovules solitary; styles filiform, branched into 2 stigmatic lobes. Fruit a berry. Seeds 2.
