Notes:

This species has a distinctive calyx limb that has five narrowly triangular thickened segments that are apparently fused in bud, and then irregularly splits deeply into 2-3 or perhaps more lobes. The calyx segments are acute but fused in bud, and the fused calyx limb in bud has an acute tip that is then twisted for ca. 360°. This contrasts with Pentagonia species with spathaceous calyx limbs, which do not have apparent segments and are straight at the top, and with the Pentagonia species with regularly lobed calyx limbs, which have lobes that are imbricated in bud.

Distribution: Wet forest at 360 m in central Peru (San Martín).
