This species is characterized by slender elongated main stems with lateral short-shoots, somewhat small leaves that are glabrescent abaxially, slender peduncles bearing several subcapitate flowers, white corollas 12-14 mm long with obtuse or rounded lobes, and rather small oblong-cylindrical fruits. The tertiary venation is areolate. This species not well distinguished, and specimens are included in it here provisionally. No spines are evident on the leaf-bearing branches.
Chomelia rauwolfioides is similar to Chomelia albicaullis, and the distinctions between these are not entirely clearly. Chomelia rauwolfioides is also simialr to Chomelia peruviana, with larger corollas.
