Notes: This species is characterized by its glabrous stems, leaves, inflorescences, ovaries, calyx limb, and capsules; regularly calyx limbs with well developed tubes; corolla about 16-20 mm long; and capsules 15-30 x 3-4 mm. The glabrous condition and usually green drying color are unusual in Joosia.
Distribution: Wet forest vegetation at 1100-1600 m on the eastern slopes of the Andes in central Ecuador.
