Notes: This species is characterized by its medium-sized leaves, ligulate stipules with a medial group of glands, short cymose inflorescences, somewhat small corollas that are barbate in the throat, and ellipsoid fruits. Zappi (2003: 544-547, fig. 5A-J) presented a description and illustrations of some morphological details.
Distribution: In Atlantic forest and restinga vegetation at 20-1100 m along the coast of eastern and southeastern Brazil, in Espírito Santo, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, São Paul, and Santa Catarina.
