Notes:
This species is characterized by its somewhat well developed, interpetiolar, ovate to ligulate stipules with a group of glands at the top, its medium-sized, thin-textured leaves that are rounded to truncate at the base and subsessile to shortly petiolate, its lax cymose inflorescences, its short calyx limb and somewhat medium-sized corollas, and its range in premontane forest in the Cordillera de la Costa of northern Venezuela. It is not well collected. Rudgea costanensis is similar to Rudgea karstenii and Rudgea cornifolia.
