Notas : This species is characterized by its erect stems, lanceolate to ovate leaves, and cymose inflorescences. It is generally similar to Arcytophyllum capitatum and Arcytophyllum setosum of South America. The author and place of publication of the name Arcytophyllum lavarum was not entirely clear for a while; it was attributed to Schumann in the Pflanzenfamilien but he did not validly publish the name there, and Standley validated it later without intending to.
Distribución : Páramo and humid scrub vegetation at 1800-3500 m, Costa Rica and western Panama; only small areas of this habitat are found in Central America, and the distribution of this species is correspondingly limited.
