A scandent, stoloniferous shrub, with pubescent young shoots. Leaves thin, oblong-lanceolate or elliptic, 3-10(-12) cm long, 1-3.5 cm broad, acuminate, cuneate at base; petiole 5-12 mm long, pubescent. Flowers mostly solitary, axillary, on 2.5-5 cm long peduncles, red, 1.5 cm across. Sepals 5, united at the base, c. 3 mm long. Petals 5, ovate to obovate, 8-12 mm long, obtuse. Stamens, 5, filaments somewhat dilated towards base. Ovary bilobed, each lobe unilocular, biovulate; styles 2, erect, suhcoherent, recurved at apex. Drupe 1 or 2-lobed, lobes orbicular reniform, c. 5-6 mm in diameter, wrinkled, blue.
