In the Flore de Madagascar (Aubréville 1974), C. bakeri is comprised of two varieties. C. bakeri var. antalahense has been proven to be genetically distant from the type variety and more closely related to other species. It is not yer clear if it is a species on its own or if it is within the wide variation of C. tampinense. [LG 2020]
