Note
|
This species is known only from the type collection, taken from an upland area of the Chiriqui Mountains now undergoing clearing for cattle pasture. It is similar to L. howardiana of Central Panama but the calyx is much shorter, and the indumentum has a quite different appearance. It is named for James Luteyn, Duke University, collector of this and other interesting Panamanian Solanaceae.
