General notes: The species is tentatively accepted at the rank of species following Pobedimova (1949). Halda (2001) recognized the taxon with its replaced name Daphne pontica subsp. haematocarpa Woronow.

The orthography of the epithet was changed inappropriately to "alboviana" in several treatments (e.g., Fl. Kavkaza (1962), Flora Gruzii (1984) and Flora Severo-Zapadnogo (2006)).
