general taxon notes:
The genus Drummondia consists of seven species in the world (Crosby et al. 2000). One species is here recognized in China. Drummondia prorepens var. latifolia C. Gao reported from Jilin and D. thomsonii Mitt. from Xinjiang and Xizang (Redfearn et al. 1996) cannot be verified here. Müller (1896) casually published the name D. turkestanica Broth. (in litt.) without citing any specimen. It appears to be an unverifiable record. Drummondia rubiginosa Müll. Hal. was transferred to Schlotheimia rubiginosa (Müll. Hal.) Vitt (Vitt 1972), but the combination is an illegitimate later homonym. The taxonomic status of this species is uncertain.
