Plants small, ca. 5 mm high, green to yellowish green, in loose tufts. Stems branched. Leaves appressed when dry, erect-spreading when moist, oblong- to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, cucullate above, not decurrent at base; margins plane, entire or serrulate above, slightly recurved below; costae shortly excurrent; median leaf cells rectangular or narrowly hexagonal, 23–50 µm × 10–17 µm, slightly thick-walled, cells narrower at margins, but borders not clearly differentiated; basal cells rectangular to nearly quadrate. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves linear-lanceolate. Setae ca. 20 mm long; capsules pendulous, ellipsoidal, reddish brown; neck slightly expanded, shrunk when dry; exostome teeth minutely papillose, brownish below; endostome segments as long as the teeth, widely perforate; cilia 1–3, nearly as long as the segments, appendiculate. Spores 9–12 µm in diameter, roughened.
