Notes :
Hoe (1979) first reported this species from Hawaii. The species name was synonymized with Bryum nitens by Ochi (1974), the latter was also treated as synonym of Bryum apiculatum by Ochi (1976), then with Bryum mildeanum by Staples et al. (2004). It has been recently treated as Imbribryum megalostegium by Spence (2020).
