Ecology. Upper open Yungas montane, probably extending into the shrubby humid puna; on soil along water falls. Elevation. 3250 m. Distribution. Bolivia: La Paz. World range: United States(Florida), Mexico and Colombia.
 
Ecología. Superior abiertas Yungas montano, probably extendiéndose into the puna húmeda arbustiva; sobre suelo a lo largo agua brácteas espatiformes. Altitud. 3250 m. Distribución. Bolivia: La Paz. Distribución mundial: Estados Unidos (Florida), México y Colombia.
 
Bryum microchaeton is characterized by the triangular-lanceolate leaves, long acuminate apex, revolute to reflexed leaf margin nearly the entire length, somewhat long excurrent costa, weakly so rather strongly differentiated border of narrow, linear cells, and gradually differentiated subrectangular basal cells. The capsules of this species are obloid with a gradually long tapering neck. According to Ochi (1980) this species belong to the B. alpinum group.
 
Bryum microchaeton se caracteriza por las hojas triangular-lanceoladas, ápice largo acuminado, margen de las hojas revoluto a reflexo casi en toda su longitud, costa algo largo excurrente, borde de células lineares angostas, débilmente a muy marcadamente diferenciado y células basales subrectangulares gradualmente diferenciadas. Las cápsulas de esta especie son obloides con un cuello gradualmente largo atenuado. De acuerdo a Ochi (1980) esta especie pertenece al grupo B. alpinum.
