Notes:

Ecology: Lowland to premontane forest; on decaying logs or base of trees (Acosmium cardenasii). Elevation: 10-2000 m (Venezuela: 110 m, Colombia: 10-1030 m, Ecuador: 400 m, Peru: 600 m, Bolivia: 250-800(2000) m). Distribution: Southeast United States, widespread in the Neotropics (East and Southeast Asia?).
 
Fissidens pallidinervis is characterized by the oblong to oblong-lanceolate leaves, rounded to broadly acute apex, serrulate margins, bordered and entire on the lower vaginante laminae of upper most leaves and perichaetial leaves, subpercurrent costa (to 15 cells below apex), vaginant laminae 1/2-2/3 the leaf length, obscure, firm-walled pluripapillose laminal cells. The following names have been used previously in the Neotropics: Fissidens garberi Lesq. & James and F. minutus Thwaites & Mitt.
 
Fissidens pallidinervis se caracteriza por las hojas oblongas a oblongo-lanceoladas, ápices redondeados a anchamente agudos, márgenes serrulados, bordeados y enteros en la porción inferior de la lámina vaginante de las hojas superiores y hojas periqueciales, costa subpercurrente (hasta 15 células debajo el ápice), lámina vaginante 1/2-2/3 el largo de la hoja, células de la lámina pluripapilosas, oscuras y con paredes firmes. Los siguientes nombres han sido utilizados previamente en el Neotrópico: Fissidens garberi Lesq. & James y F. minutus Thwaites & Mitt.
