Plants small, green to brownish. Leafy stems usually simple, 2.6–5.0 mm long, 1.8–3.5 mm wide; axillary hyaline nodules indistinctly differentiated; central strand weakly differentiated. Leaves in 4–9 pairs, middle to upper leaves oblong-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, 1.3–1.6 mm × 0.4–0.5 mm, acute at apex; base of dorsal laminae rounded to wedge-shaped, rarely slightly decurrent; costa strong, percurrent to shortly excurrent; margins nearly entire except at the leaf apex, which is often slightly serrulate; vaginant laminae ca. 1/2–3/5 the leaf length, equal or slightly unequal; limbidia strong, 1–2 rows of cells on apical laminae, 2–5 rows of cells on vaginant laminae, 1–3 cells thick in cross section; cells of apical and dorsal laminae quadrate to hexagonal, 7–14 µm long, moderately thick-walled, smooth; cells of vaginant laminae similar to those of apical and dorsal laminae, but larger and longer toward base near costa. Autoicous. Male inflorescences bud-like, often growing in axils of stem leaves. Female inflorescences mostly in axils of stem leaves, occasionally terminal on stems. Perichaetial leaves not markedly differentiated. Archegonia 160–210 µm long. Setae 6.0–8.3 mm long, smooth; capsules curved, asymmetrical; urns 0.6–0.8 mm long; opercula long rostrate, ca. 0.5 mm long; exothecial cells quadrate to rectangular, thin-walled to partially thick-walled, with thick-walled corners; peristome teeth linear, 0.2–0.3 mm long, 38 µm wide at base. Calyptrae mitrate, ca. 0.5 mm long. Spores 7–12 µm in diameter.
