Bryoerythrophyllum calcareum is distinguished by the small plant stature to 12 mm, axillary gemmae, ligulate leaves to ca. 1.5 mm, obtuse-rounded apex, recurved and entire margins distally differentiated in 2-3 rows of thick-walled cells. Husnotiella glossophylla Herzog is a possible synonym (cf. Zander 1993. 32: 115).
 
Bryoerythrophyllum calcareum se distingue por las plantas de estatura hasta 12 mm, yemas axilares, hojas ligulares hasta ca. 1.5 mm, ápices obtuso-redondeados, márgenes recurvados y enteros, distalmente diferenciados en 2-3 filas de células con paredes gruesas. Husnotiella glossophylla Herzog posiblemente es un sinónimo (cf. Zander 1993. 32: 115).
